IBO Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate Organization aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural
understanding and respect.

To this end the IBO works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

How Do I Earn a Diploma?

The IB Diploma represents an additional diploma earned by successful students.
Complete:

• Extended Essay (maximum 4000 words)
• Creativity, Action, and Service (150 hours)
• Theory of Knowledge (Unique IB course that relates all disciplines)
• Take one course in all 6 subject areas
• Complete all IB Assessments
• Grading Scale is 1-7, and is a combination of marks for external and internal assessment
• Must accumulate 24 out of a possilbe 45 points total to receive the diploma


What Does an IB Student Need?

There is no formal testing required for admission to the program.

• Two years of foreign language experience in Spanish or French
• Adequate reading comprehension
• Passion for learning
• Curiosity
• Motivation
• Solid Writing Skills


What Subjects Are Offered at Hillsboro at this Time?

What Does IB Cost Each Student?

The total cost per student is approximately $631.00 for
the entire two years. Metro Public Schools will reimburse
students for scores of 4,5,6 and 7 on a 1-7 scale.
